Incidents of the Yankee Raid to Florence [Alabama].

… The Vandals seized a carriage, occupied by a young lady, and ordered her to get out. She flatly refused, saying, it was her carriage, and she would not give it up.—They persisted in their order, telling her, if she did not get out, they would take her off with the carriage. She told them: "Very well, wherever that carriage went she would go." Accordingly, they drove off "the booty and beauty" together to the Colonel, Cornyn, who contrary to his antecedents, harkened to her persistent claim of property and released the carriage.—Huntsville Confederate.

Another new article: A Young Lady's Soliloquy, wondering why she must be raised to become "somebody's wife," feeling useless, instead of being "trained up to work of some kind". I have also added A Lady on Camping Out, covering foods, which I hope will be of great use as most of the usual events constitute "camping out" in some form or another. See also The Way to Spoil Girls.

Additional articles have been added to the Coffee and Printing sections, which right now are simply reposits for quotes I find at Vicki Betts' website, put in chronological order. I was actively searching for Coffee, and Printing was usually happened-upon, which is why there are so many for the former and hardly any for the latter.

Three new articles: A Plea for the Poor, A Word to Southern Ladies & When Ladies Should Be Looked At, via Vicki Betts’ newspaper research website. Working on additional research about printing and paper, and coffee and tea, two of my favorite subjects.

Exchanged “Art” section for “Household” section. Added links to a bunch of cookbooks and household guides from 1825–1867, and further links to sources for pre- and post-period resources.

I’m currently putting together my cage crinoline from Needle & Thread, and am documenting the surprisingly easy process. Stay tuned!
